The American's: season IV so far thumbs up or thumbs down? (SPOILers)

I just finished episode 4 last nite.

WOW!
I had thought this to be a bit draggy, and telling Paige "the truth" just
makes NO cccp sense whatsoever, comrades.

Though dee-yam!
That was a very E.A. Poetic zero rising action climax. PEACE out Nina.
(a major cast contraction or removal of, talent, too!)

As to me? Some of this seemed way too soft as the soviet side goes.
Well, until now that is.

Great nostalgic trip down memory lane seeing things reminiscent of my
late parents in Pittsburgh as a kid. The series is the antithesis of shark
jumping, or a very fresh take.

Phillip and Elizabeth are the stars. No doubt.
Interesting interchange of the girl being more the Alpha and the guy
being a bit more compassionate and therefore conscientious. I like that
juxtaposition; and it really does work.

And I'm a big fan of Agent Beeman and even Martha.
Both are playing their roles like a champ.

Though I thought American's slipped in the 3rd season when it played
the Family Drama card way too much. Got away from the Cold War easy
turnkey suspenseful espionage ready made tagline. There are so many
scripts just begging to be written from that era of spy on spy hate.

And I had found season IV to be good, though a flat version of good.
Until episode 04 did end, quite literally, with a "bang."

Curious to see where it goes from here.
It is a very good show, that seems to me like it could be even, greater.

you???

TIA,
b.street
